I take USGS maps—these official, public domain documents—and I crumple them, letting the paper take on a life of its own. Then, by spraying from the side, I create shadows that mimic real mountains, turning a flat representation into something that feels almost sculptural. It’s like the terrain is emerging from the map itself.

From there, I draw on the maps, adding roads and pathways that weren’t there before. It’s my way of reshaping the landscape, making it my own. The process plays with perception—what’s real, what’s illusion, what’s mapped, and what’s still uncharted. It challenges the idea that maps are fixed, suggesting instead that landscapes, like our own experiences, are fluid and open to interpretation.
